About North Tyneside Steelband

North Tyneside Steelband is the North East of England’s top Steelband – it also happens to be a registered charity that is run by a board of volunteers. The band has been performing locally, across the UK and even internationally since 1992 and can boast amongst its players prize winning musicians who travel all over the world to play steel pan!

We have played at some large events such as:

  • The Wickerman Festival
  • Cudrefin International Steelband Festival, Switzerland
  • Royal Albert Hall
  • National Festival of Music for Youth
  • National Youth Arts Festival
  • BBC Young Folk Musician of the Year.

Not only can we supply a band to play at your event, be it a private party, wedding or large corporate function but the primary purpose of the charity is to spread the love of steelband music by teaching young people and adults how to play!

We have bands of different abilities and age groups from total beginners to those that have been playing for a number of years! We even have an adult band that meet every week for a bit of a jam and all are welcome to come along and give it a go.

If you are interested in booking North Tyneside Steelband, you can do so from the dedicated bookings page where you can also see our band availability. We play a variety of music from old classics and gentle background music to cover versions of contemporary hits guaranteed to get your event jumping.

Don’t just take our word for it – head on over to our media gallery where you can hear some previews of a small selection of our repertoire or if you want to help us out, you can buy CDs  from our online store.
