We are turning 30!

Hello!

We haven’t posted in a while so it’s time to update you all on what’s been happening with NTSB!

2018 was a canny little year for us all! We had a fab residential with Chris Storey, played at Pan Nation’s wonderful Blockorama in the summer and were invited to play at the 7th Biennale Steelpan Conference in October – there’s lot’s of other bits and pieces as well but hopefully you’ve seen us all littering our social media with our pics. If you haven’t, get on facebook now and catch up! All in all – a solid year of panning!

We had a busy Christmas period with some great gigs, our junior band have stepped up big time recently and they showed us all (and their impressed audiences) just how amazing they all are. The new term has seen several of them moving up to the performance band but we have a feeling more of them will be joining us over the course of 2019!

We’re working hard on Tuesday nights and over the past few weeks we have learnt Jenny Gilberg’s arrangement of Clean Bandit’s Symphony, it sounds epic! We’re working on a few golden oldies as well to get everyone up to date with the gig repertoire.

Of course 2019 is a really big year for us as it marks 30 years since our ‘Pan-father’ Dave Edwards set up NTSB (we also celebrated a big birthday of his in 2018)

The committee and a few of our players are working really hard to make sure we have some exciting stuff planned to make the anniversary really memorable…

We have lot’s of stuff in the pipeline which we are really looking forward to sharing with you soon.

A little sneaky revelation is that the grand finale of all of our 30th anniversary activities on 19th October will be our 30th Anniversary Concert at the Exchange in North Shields. Tickets have gone one sale so get yours now! www.ticketsource.co.uk/theexchange

We’ll be telling the story of the band right from the olden days – with visual stuff and funny stories and of course, a spot of steelpan! I can guarantee you don’t want to miss out on this!

So it’s all go at NTSB HQ…

As always, let us know if you want to get involved – we are always looking for new players to join the fleet!

Bye for now!

NTSB xoxo
